How to Define Your Values.
Research conducted at NYU shows that fewer than 10% of people feel as if they are living in full accordance with their values.
According to NYU professor Suzy Welch, values are the beliefs, motivations, desire, and guiding principles that shape how you think, feel, and act. They reflect what matters most to you—whether it’s freedom, stability, creativity, connection, or success. Values influence the choices you make, the goals you pursue, and how you define a meaningful life.
Values are not just preferences or opinions, nor are they virtues or personality traits. They go deeper than that.
They help you answer questions like:
→ What kind of person do I want to be?
→ What kind of life feels worth living?
→ What do I want my decisions to reflect about me?
The Methodology
The Values Bridge is a scientifically-validated assessment created to give users a deeper and more specific understanding of their values. It tests users on their levels of the 15 personal values identified in the Welch-Bristol Values Inventory, identifying how much of each value a person authentically holds, and how much they actually express in their daily lives
The Values Bridge is grounded in nearly a century of research in psychology, social science, identity, and moral philosophy.
